Rogers Gougers

I don’t have a cell phone, but watching others try  to load photos from cell phone has convinced me it is one of life’s tighter mysteries. Rogers, for instance, complicates everything beyond human intuition. Rogers expects you to set your photos into their online albums from whence thanx to their linkage with yahoo you can then shoot them into email or over to flickr, or to another phone.

It’s likely just their way of opening up new vistas of billing.

Quoting from Jo reading from her screen,

“Send via multimedia message, or, online album” thats the choices she gets, otherwise, the pictures stay in a tiny dark grey square on the phone itself. She’s trying it now to see how workable it is, but in choosing an email address to send to it is only recognizing the keys as numbers, not letters. anyone have an email address of numbers? or a phone that receives photos perhaps? haha. That’ll never happen!

My rogers deal is 29.95 for phone, 25,99 for internet, 29.99 for cable tv minimum lite package, with all its sudden surprises and arcane technical arrangements…  Tax is what it generally is, and there’s no particular reason not to tax it.. thats about as good as it gets for these 3 services, “bundled” as they say … except: the 29.99 worth of cable would be a blank screen if not for the 4.49 rental of the digital terminal and the 2.99 ‘digital services fee’ – isn’t cable tv digital service itself? thats 7.48 added, plainly it is 37.47 a month for cable tv (plus tax)

the 25.99 internet has an additional 3.00 fee for the cable modum, so it is really 28.99, (plus tax). Realistically, it’s 28.99 plus tax not 25.99.

With the phone, it is 29.95 for the phone service, but that would apparently not pay for the access to the phone, no no no, system access fee is 5.95. They would charge you 29.95 for a phone service but not give you access to it?

simplifying:

phone: 29.95 / hidden fees 5.95 + 1.00

internet: 25.99 / hidden fee 3.00

cable: 29.99 / hidden fees 4.49 + 2.99

$17.++ in extra fees

all that and 7 cents a minute long distance and they phone daily to try to harry more money out of me. After all the above doesn’t include A&E or CNN and it’s not a blackberry or iphone it’s a landline. They have no complaint because I actually like to pay a ways in advance to save cheques and worrying about it. A contract is a contract and there is no way I would pay the early contract cancellation penalty! And I do enjoy it when there are no problems. It’s basically necessary much of it. I’m polite with their unwarranted calls. I’d rather talk to people I want to talk to. Alright? The &$17 is gouging tho. ~ X

  1. Very kind of you to reply so soon on this matter. I’ll try it a few hundred times and eventually I should be successful.
Happy, almost blissful expression on your face. I wonder who you’re talking to. Have a great weekend.

  2. Upon purchasing a fancy new mobile from Rogers, I was required to ‘refer to my online manual’ to become familiar with it’s features. I have never had the ‘online manual’ availed to me, nor is my online photo album easily accessed, ever.

And Rogers folk must think they’re so smooth with their ‘hidden fees’. Although, with cellphone and photo uploading, extra fees could be almost be justified if they included a teenager willing to explain it all. They seem to inherently know everything about everything when it comes to modern phone technology. Good luck, Rosalba!!

  3. Still waiting for Rogers to discover this and see how they react.
I wouldn’t have bothered if they didn’t phone incessantly,
and when the last time they wouldn’t take no for answer
about getting a cell phone from them, I’d had enough.

An ongoing pique expressed, the above, and always
service with a smile, as it seems it is I who must service them
when I’d rather just pay the friccin bill and do fun things for you guys.
