nicky’s departure dinner

Incredibly, the reality is taking hold, Letters Bookshop, of Thunder Bay, a block from his grandfather’s 1st home, after 42 years in Toronto. It’s a stunning development, and hopefully bodes well. It’s exciting and interesting at the least. He was able to join us tonight, at  La Commensal, with the novelist Rob Read in town, and Sam Kaufman and Mark Goldstein coming along. Not kidding that he had a fresh piece of evidence supporting the Edward DeVere was Shakespeare story, a listing of those present for a play sounding like 12th night, corroborating documents an Italian visitor (Arseni/Arseno) and a Russian that also wrote of the occasion, and an image of Shakespeare that Nicky says is clearly DeVere.

Stay tuned on this.

While the thought of moving such a collection to the roughest neighbourhood in breezy Thunder Bay sounds daunting, the suggestion is a greater presence online with it all is to follow. I myself eagerly look forward to inventing a pen name from which to inquire after various matters and particularly certain parts of the collection! Even foreshadowing the gambit is no resolve against succeeding, because if a Jim Brouha from Detroit with strange tenacity queries after Detroit/Windsor area writers’ works, why assume it’s that one? (Meanwhile a real guy named Art Lord asks the same question, which is the ruse?) All in good spirit.

The food by the way was just amazing, and after such dining I look at regular food with the most serious doubt. More on La Commensal to follow.

    Thanks for looking
    and for the corrections
one thing i’m not is a shakespeare afficionad
    or a british royalty observer
    it’s all gist to me
    there’s only gist

new poetry ovement 3 million ? The Gistists?
i got nothing riding on it
    and cite merwin
his line was it “ask” the mountains / they’re not selling anything”
the gist is that that guy was there at that performance
and shakes de vere adjusted the play to reflect that
and de vere hosted the whole thing and was higher up
it’s a marvel that ‘scene illumuniation’ nicky does
i look for bright things in the future
and fuel from the past = gist

  3. like a kid, earnestly facing up to a tough situation he wouldn’t choose.
I partly imagine him anyway though transforming that area of town
a whirlwind of surprising activity. Becoming an important figure there.
And why not? Toronto, undoubtly, is a place with so many more important people than it can possibly use, that being an important person here is redundant and a bit ridiculous, something that would give people good reason to question since it would imply one didn’t get there were too many important people. I definitely sit back and think plenty but plenty of people doing that important people job. And Nicky had to plow through the rolodex of quite the volume of important people specifically as regarded literary and cosmic history but maybe Thunder Bay will value his novel ideas for how things could be. Strange kid in a new town.
