401 Rideshare Thanksgiving in Windsor

(((Interesting title I suddenly realize, drawing google hits on Rideshares, (so urgent sometimes!) for the 401 and Among the 1000s for Thanksgiving in Windsor I don’t doubt. ride share parking lotI’d reached Greyhound Station reasonably on time, but I guess, with the recession, everyone is sending their kids back and forth to university on the bus these days so the lineups cost me a seat. I zipped to union station to learn the next train was hours away and zipped home to internet.) It is the unseen role of the bicycle in internet! (And a man named Tomas was gathering people for a ride share to my home town! It took more than an hour collecting everyone, then we were were off on the highway. ride share bikersAhmed from Saudi Arabia took to the headphones, John from Kingsville took up conversation on geology with Tomas the gatherer, a geologist in China, now working out of Windsor as a computer programmer. Good guy. It’s a leap of trust but the other Ahmed (from south windsor) andride share rear view mirror Mei Ling from China settled into the back row in the minivan while I took the odd picture and tried to sleep. Our last pickup, Aroun Ahmed in the mcdonnalds parking lot near dixie road ramp to the 401 resulted in our visit to the mcdonnalds there, and then we were off. ride share redsride share corn fog

We were already past London when Ahmed from South Windsor pulled up with a cramp in the jammed back ride share corn flagsrow and Tomas urgently found a roadside place for us to curl off and stretch legs, back gateway to a cornonthecobfarm. And soon enough alls the well we’re dropping off John from Kingsville on the in fact more rural long dark road of green near Cottam.

Trusting people improves your life.

Earlier, Joanne and I took in my so impressive nephews Robert and David in basketball, she in her heels and Sunday dress clothes, they youthful burgeoning stars with fully airborne passing plays and catch and receive dunks, and by my calculation, I'd say we only really lost about 74 to 40 or so. We're damn good players, in our own right, and quite able to rationalize interpretations of the rules.

  1. They thought they’d beat us but nwuoooo,
only shots taken in bounds, with both feet
touching the ground, were being counted:
Mousseau-Barlow had the tendency to plant
feet for shots, it’s weird coming from such
old school basketball, but it is. Robert and David
probably only scored about 46 points from
standing shots, whereas very few of our shots
were from the air. We lost, but by less, by those
rules. Such a valiant effort. All thanks to Tomas
with his rideshare, doing a favour for a friend

  2. While you and I viewed ourselves as serious contenders that game, your nephews appeared unfazed. Ah, youth. I think we gave ’em a good go.

    Yes, much thanks to Tomas.
