977 OMEMEE, (truly best banquet burger ever)

Some of you are going to have to rethink the meaning of life itself

Others, who work in the trade,

will have to reassess your boasts about your burgers.

It’s not even close. The Banquet Burger at the Roadside Diner in Omemee is in fact the best burger I have ever had, and I have enjoyed a few. It was the best burger ever.

Not that we went there to find that burger, our dream and hope had been fulfilled already, to go beyond the realm of planning and hurrying and destination, into pure experience of Being.

Still, after a highly active night, and the accoutrements of the (not recommended!) motel we stayed in, with its frequent startling wake up moments (party rooms either side of our cabinny cave, periodically knocking expectantly on our door, both rooms neighbour parties audible through our walls, people who don’t sleep) and a welcomingness of the road again, open to breakfast or lunch or making some time, (the Northern Kawarthas had been wonderful and the night before was fun and inspiring)

But the burgers at the Roadside Diner in Omemee

hard deep plunge thrill on a bank of based up guitars the luscious earth itself

I had just washed my hands, and Joanne went to wash her’s.
I sat happily awaiting her return, and the Hamburgers.
I gasped when they came out.
