Marlie Game Preview Pics

Filed under: Uncategorized — oversion @ 10:12 pm

A fantastic venture to the Ricoh Colisseum yesterday for Grand Rapid Griffins versus Toronto Marlies. They have apparently law abiding quasi-scalping going on – tickets sold in bulk at reduced rates resold outside to the trusting. We got two $39 tickets, front row on the glass in the Marlies corner for $20 each and had a fantastic time. Former super Spitfire Andrew Engelage was in net for Toronto, what with Leaf org injuries to Giguerre, Gustavson, Rynnas, and as Windsor folk already know, Engelage does nothing but win!! Fantastic to have people’s capless coke bottles springing off the boards shelfs when thundering hits came into our corner. Got to catch the spirit of the likes of Mike Brennan, Josh Engel, Matt Lashof, Simon Gysbers, former London Knight Danny Richmond – what a great – and the unexpectedly giant and speedy Korbinian Holzer on the Marlies blueline. Great excitement combined with the ultra rapid sudden zooming jerseyed behemoths crashing into our corner, and truly, a really fun crowd at the game. Lots of spirited hockey talk among neighbours and funny cat calls teasing the more highly rated stars. A comprehensive game report with special mentions for Zigomanis, Colbourne, Gregg Scott, Kadri, Tomas Tatar, the Filppula brother, Corey Emmerton and so on – Amadio, man, what a beast! – but we’re out the door so this is just a humanistic preview of it all…

  1. Does the heart good, does hockey & friends at the game, especially friends with food! Was thinking about all this yesterday with the winter games on Sunday. So good to have sports in a balanced existence. Like having music only more assertive. Dick & I were watching & the snow was doing its business just outside the windows & it was cozy inside. Rose
