Sparrow L Team: Prepares to defend Wallhole

Filed under: Uncategorized — oversion @ 4:30 am

The Sparrows this year appear resolved to withstand the onslaught of winter starlings, and defend their hole in our wall. All summer they raise family after family there, busy all day like us, for love of Downsview, where I was conceived, and work.

Every winter the starlings come and sweep out the sparrows
I don’t mind and it’s part of nature. The home team of animals
all make their way, the squirrels, crows, gulls, sparrows, rats, mice, raccoons, skunks, most of the main ones, the starlings have spent the last few winters screeling away in the piping up there, unbelievable strange conversations and ways of relating. All the machinery works better in the cold so I like to keep the warehouse cool, and listen to the starlings. But it’s the sparrows home the other 8 months of the year, like places on earth.

And the sparrows have been with me every home I’ve had

They’re flying around intense like a resurgent Leaf team,
I think the Starlings are smart, and they’ll look kindly on them
til January! Sparrows with their invisible lined selves. And the starlings with their globally competitive language. All the other animals have their own enormous histories of season upon year upon season.
