The Finches Return! 14 Oct 2-1-

Filed under: Uncategorized — oversion @ 2:18 am

They’re so cute and splendid. Canada’s most festive birds, the varied little finches, made their merry return to the line of trees between our shipping yard and jehova’s witness parking lot. Thinking finch, anyway. And wondering if it’s the same group as last year at this time. They are more numerous, but like then, so varied and distinctive as to seem to be a medley of similar birds travelling together. Fantastic little birds that all alight at once and all disappear into the tree again. And I know that during a hectic day, that gets the spirits up in the skin, one can tend to project feelings on the air, but, like the insects in one’s apartment that you can sense in happiness at times, the spiders and so on, that uncanny feeling, I did feel like the finches recognized me. Yesterday was their first day back and they hurried along in fragmented rushes when I’d come along with the camera, but today it was like they remembered last year and thought, okay it’s time to have our picture taken.

  1. I agree. They are so cute! I picked one up once. It was sitting in the middle of the sidewalk, unable to fly. Took it home and placed it on my balcony with sesame seeds for food and some water. In the morning it was gone.
